New car picked up eight hours ago.
Only one down side I’ve found is that the boot is so big I had to climb into it to remove the dealership sticker at the top of the rear window.

Most modern commuter cars can pull on me in the straights, but I don’t even care.

This is my parents’ car since I don’t own a car yet but I still like it very much. It definitely drives better than it looks.

Nah. Stock. Perfect for doing anything, mediocre for doing anything really well. And that’s how she’s staying. (as far as ride height goes)

That’s cool. It’s more that from the angle of the photo, I just couldn’t tell if it was lifted or not. I always liked the Colorado/Canyon/I-series as my preferred choice of smaller pickup. Especially with the 5.3 :)

I might spend a decent chunk of my day looking at other cars for sale, but the second I get behind the wheel of this one I don’t want anything else.

1999 4Runner SR5
Exterior: 5/10: It’s aged better than Acura SUVs.
Interior: 8/10: Seats are great with good adjustability and there’s a lot of awesome 90's amenities.
Acceleration: 3/10 Better than a semi, but still worse than a Prius
Braking: 6/10 It stops predictably and pretty quickly.
Ride: 4/10: pretty bouncy and not that great for going through miles.
Handling: 3/10. It corners well for what it is. A truck.
Gearbox: 2/10 4 speed auto with o/d. Gears are low and doesn’t do well on highway.
Audio: 6/10 Stereo is pretty good and the engine sounds nice when you get over 3k
Toys 4/10 Lot’s of 90's power things. Plenty of buttons to keep you interested.
Value 7/10 It was cheap and it’s a Toyota. Pretty good value. All I’m going to say is that I’m glad gas is cheap.

Last night I was getting nervous as to how she would look and how the blue would come out. But I’m really happy. She’s wearing the wrong shoes (ordered 18" Pegasus wheels but have 18" Modus wheels instead) but I like them more than the ones I chose.

The color is just stunning and the wheels truly look better than the ones you ordered. Do the sedans still have this feature?

Nice, we’ve got similar tastes. I used to have a ZX2 S/R the same color as your rear bumper.

It’s a colour I’d choose, very good choice. When do we get the comparison of it with your old one?

Thanks.
No, they stopped the twindoor.
As a hatchback with it’s single piece tailgate it freed up a lot more for design and saved a lot of weight.
This is the same make, model and colour car with the boot open.

I still don’t get why liftbacks aren’t more popular outside of Europe. The Superbs boot looks massive.

It’s like comparing chalk and cheese, the Mk2 was a base model S spec with a couple of options, the Mk3 is an SE L Exec with full leather interior with loads of bells and whistles (ironically the SE L Exec was cheaper with all the discounts than the S spec was). Colour me happy, yay.
The Mk3 is more responsive, slightly more spacious, etc...
One other guy on another forum was getting 65-70mpg (UK) on his daily commute of 75 miles. After 2,000 miles and the engine had bedded in he now gets 85mpg (UK). I anticipate 60mpg (UK) with how and where she’ll be driven.

I do like a well spec’d car, I don’t care about the weight, I want buttons and soft touch finishes! So is it the diesel then, those figure are very impressive!

Hatchbacks and liftbacks make so much sense in there versatility over a saloon.
The boot has the capacity of 625 litres with the rear bench up, with the rear bench down it’s 1,760 litres.

There are still a lot of options available that I didn’t tick.
No she’s a 148bhp 1.4TSi ACT.

You can get carried away with options, well done for your restraint! I’ve heard good things about that new 1.4, is meant to be surprisingly gutsy.

You really do.
Didn’t even think about any other car before ordering or take one for a test drive.
Just went in, said what I wanted, asked what discount they could offer, got £5,000 off the £26,000+price, placed the order and left, all in 30 minutes.

Had the 1.4TSi in the Mk2 (124bhp) which was surprisingly nippy. I really couldn’t fault her.
